What You Will Be Doing

This role will work in collaboration with the South East Metro Health Services Partnership to deliver the Adaptive Hand Clinic, a non surgical pathway for the screening, assessment and conservative management of acquired hand conditions referred to Plastic Surgery by General Practitioners.

The aims of the project are to improve access to care, decrease wait times for service, surgical delay or avoidance if appropriate and improve patient experience. This clinic is an initiative funded by the Department of Health as part the Alternative Pathways Projects.

The candidate requires expertise in person centred care in the management of hand trauma, acute hand injury and degenerative hand conditions. They must demonstrate excellent skills in the assessment of hand conditions including an understanding of the biomechanics and anatomy of the upper limb.

The role requires effective communication to help lead a dynamic team to deliver excellent patient centred care and outcomes across a range of busy outpatient clinics; servicing a caseload referred predominantly from Plastics with some referrals from Orthopaedics.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in participating in change and managing projects In the health sector
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and skills in the assessment of hand injury (acute and chronic and upper limb conditions) including a detailed understanding of the biomechanics and anatomy of the upper limb.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in public health setting.
