Penny’s Campaigns and Communications Advisor will develop and implement campaigns to build political pressure, achieve outcomes for communities, raise Penny’s profile and grow the Greens movement in Queensland and nationally.
You will work closely with Policy and Media Advisors and the Constituent Support & Community Engagement Officer to identify campaigning opportunities, organise events and public forums, and create deep connections with communities.
The role is based in the Gladstone electorate office in Central Queensland, and may involve some travel both within Queensland and interstate.
The successful candidate must have a deep understanding of Australian politics and a fundamental alignment with progressive Greens values.
You must have a commitment to making positive change, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills, professional integrity, and a track record as a flexible team player who is also able to drive their own work independently as required.
Penny is the Australian Greens’ spokesperson on Primary & Secondary Education; Older People; Social & Government Services; Transition & Regional Development and Sport. Prior to entering parliament she was a public high school teacher and unionist for 30 years. Penny believes that everyone deserves what they need to live a good life: a great education, quality healthcare, a secure job or adequate income support, and an affordable home. Penny’s electorate office is in Gladstone, Central Queensland.
The Queensland Greens have been a major progressive force in Queensland politics for over two decades. In 2022 the party achieved a major breakthrough at the federal level with Max Chandler-Mather, Stephen Bates, Elizabeth Watson-Brown and Penny joining Larissa Waters in parliament. The Queensland Greens continue to build an ambitious movement on a platform of radical wealth distribution and social and environmental justice.
