Cancer Council SA’s vision is for a cancer free future. To achieve this, we are committed to reducing the rate and impact of cancer for all South Australians through best practice prevention, research and support and this is a team effort.
We have a proud history of working across every aspect of every cancer for more than 90 years, and this is your opportunity to become a part of that history and become a member of SA’s most trusted charity.
Together, we can all play a part in reducing the impact of cancer.
Join CCSA as a Philanthropy Manager to lead major gifts strategy, build donor relationships, and drive impactful fundraising with a dynamic team. Make a difference!
The Fundraising and Engagement team is focused on promoting the impact achieved by the organisation and marketing the services offered by Cancer Council SA. The team harness the passion of the community to generate the income required to assist with critical research, prevention and support programs, through some of Australia’s most loved campaigns and the development of new fundraising initiatives.
As a newly created position, the Philanthropy Manager will lead and support the Corporate Partnerships Manager, Bequest Coordinator, and Community Fundraising Officer, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals. You will set performance objectives, provide guidance, and foster a high-performance, collaborative culture. Regular updates to senior leadership will keep the team on track, while staying informed on sector trends will help refine strategies.
This role will also drive the major gifts strategy, cultivating relationships with high-net-worth donors and key stakeholders, developing funding proposals, and organizing donor events. You will work closely with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to build strategic corporate relationships and oversee the Bequest Coordinator’s planned giving programs. Additionally, you'll support the Community Fundraising Officer in managing peer-to-peer initiatives and events, while identifying opportunities to expand and enhance fundraising efforts.
The ideal candidate will have experience in philanthropy, major gifts, or high-value donor engagement, preferably in the nonprofit sector. You’ll have a proven track record in securing and stewarding major gifts and corporate partnerships, along with strong team leadership skills. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and proficiency with donor management systems (CRM) and fundraising analytics are essential.
You’ll also be highly organised, with experience managing projects from start to finish, and skilled at juggling multiple priorities. Along with an approach to work that highlights integrity, initiative and resourcefulness.
