Phillip Island Nature Parks’ Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (WRC) has a primary focus of rehabilitating sick and injured seabirds and can respond to marine pollution, wildfire and heatwave events.
This hands-on role is responsible for managing the WRC and supervising team members to ensure the Conservation Department's wildlife rescue, health research and rehabilitation programs comply with best practice and industry standards.
This role applies an evidence-based approach to wildlife rehabilitation, where the ecology and management of wild populations of birds and mammals is considered during the triage process. This position will be responsible for the training and development of staff, coordinating wildlife health research programs, developing and maintaining facilities and equipment, and ensuring policies and procedures are reviewed and adhered to optimise animal health.
