The Justice and Equity Centre is a leading social justice law and policy centre. We build a fairer, stronger society by helping to change laws, policies and practices that cause injustice and inequality.

We offer a diverse and inclusive workplace where:

  • Wellbeing is actively promoted and flexibility is supported

You will take the lead in planning and managing the research for the project. Your typical day will involve:

  • Preparing research requests and allocating requests to the Towards Truth team and pro bono firms
  • Reviewing others’ research and carrying out your own research into subjects like dispossession, cultural heritage and criminal systems

  • Leading meetings with pro bono partners and other external stakeholders
  • Presenting about Towards Truth to promote engagement

You have tertiary qualifications in law, demonstrated research and analytical skills, and a proven understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander history, culture and society.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

If you share our commitment to justice for First Nations people and truth-telling about our history, please send your resume along with a covering letter and responses to the selection criteria included in the position description.
