Pingala is a community of energy citizens taking control of our energy supply and making it clean, green and accessible. We believe that we should have a say in where our electricity comes from, and that it should bring income back into the community.

We’re really proud to be one of the first Community Energy groups in Sydney, and have some ambitious goals over the next five to ten years. It is our mission to increase the deployment of community owned and run renewable energy: we spread the word about clean and fair energy; we support businesses and communities to connect with solar; and build on models to make solar accessible to everyone. We believe that solar and other renewable technologies are crucial to securing a safe, healthy, cohesive future for ourselves, our kids and our nation.

We are seeking a Communications Coordinator to assist with project specific communications and publications, working closely with the project manager and committee on an exciting new project helping deliver solar to social housing for 2024.

Tasks include:

  • Developing a communications plan for Pingala, and the solar for social housing project
  • Seeking opportunities to engage target audiences
  • Developing communications material, media releases, graphics, and reports
  • Liaising with sites, the communities and staff where installations are taking place
  • Work and coordinate with Pingala volunteers in posting material on social media and Pingala website, and in local publications and radio where appropriate
  • Timely communication with Pingala committee about strategy, content and audience engagement
  • Keep abreast of trends in media, and maintain media networks

Essential skills/qualifications:

  • Experience creating and placing communications material
  • Good time management and computer skills
  • Able to identify and communicate compelling community stories
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • A team player and collaborative in supporting other areas of the business
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Actively seeks advice, input and feedback from others
  • A strong ability to edit and a critical eye for detail
  • Experience in a similar communications role

Desirable:

  • A passion for clean green energy generation and community empowerment!!
  • Completed or in progress studies in Media/Marketing/Arts, Public Relations or Communications

Reports to: Pingala Project Manager

Hours/week: one to 1½ days a week based on your availability and capacity. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Term: this is a temporary position - March-December 2024

Location: Work from home, but must be able to travel into Sydney for key events.

Remuneration: $85,000 - $96,000 pro rata wage package (plus statutory superannuation)
