The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) is a progressive organisation that prioritises its people and is responsible for emergency management and related support arrangements in the Territory. The ESA Commissioner is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the Agency and four operational emergency services, achieving this with an executive team that is creative, innovative and aligned. The ESA Corporate Services portfolio encompasses specialist functions essential to the delivery of support for our emergency services including:
Reporting to the ESA Commissioner, the Assistant Commissioner/EBM - Corporate ensures the delivery of corporate functions to support the operational emergency services of ESA to meet the legislative requirements contained within the Emergencies ACT 2004. This role will be responsible for providing high level advice to the ESA Commissioner and Executive Group and functional management relevant to the scope of the portfolio.

You will have a track record of experience in executive leadership and an appetite for reform. Your experience will encompass responsibility in setting branch or organisational strategic direction and providing guidance to the functional units of your portfolio. You understand how to navigate and lead through complex portfolios and get the best out of your branch. You will have extensive knowledge and understanding across the corporate functions and understand how to relate this to the government context. You will have experience motivating and developing people, valuing diversity, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with senior stakeholders on complex issues. Having knowledge of the emergency services sector would be an advantage.
