About the role

The Director of Sector Engagement and Innovation will strategically lead SNAICC’s efforts to enhance sector engagement and drive innovative solutions for early childhood, and child and family wellbeing services. This role focuses on strengthening partnerships with jurisdictional peaks and Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to align sector needs with advocacy, policy insights, and workforce development. The Director will analyse national sector trends, build cross-sector relationships, and provide leadership across SNAICC's government, philanthropic, and NGO contracts, which cover training, workforce development, and ACCO transition. Additionally, this role will identify and develop new business opportunities that address evolving sector needs. The position requires a forward-thinking approach and regular intrastate and interstate travel.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced leader, capable of driving and unifying an innovative team at SNAICC and keeping them aligned to the vision and goals as set by the Board of Directors. You will personally demonstrate, through consistent behaviour and understanding, respect for and compliance with culturally appropriate ways of working with Aboriginal people and their communities.

Your leadership extends to expertise in program management and service delivery, ensuring high-quality implementation that amplifies the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children through culture and self-determination. As well as strategic leadership capabilities that foster long-term thinking and planning. You are committed to fostering a strengths-based, respectful approach that benefits children, alongside their families and communities.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Broad knowledge and a deep understanding of issues impacting upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and commitment to the rights, needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse, multi-location team, fostering a positive culture and ensuring consistency in style and work quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, manage, and evaluate projects across the entire project cycle.
  • Effectively manage budgets and resources to maximise productivity, ensure compliance with contract requirements, and support the organisation’s long-term sustainability.
  • Demonstrated experience working in training and development frameworks.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and partnerships.
