About the role

The Indigenous Employment Business Partner plays a vital role in shaping and implementing programs and initiatives that drive the University’s Indigenous employment objectives. Collaborating closely with senior stakeholders, supervisors, and HR Business Partners, this position focuses on designing and executing innovative strategies to enhance the retention, development, engagement, and career progression of Indigenous employees at Monash University. In addition, the Indigenous Employment Business Partner offers expert advice and guidance to HR teams, Indigenous employees, and leaders, ensuring effective management of Indigenous employment matters and fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace.

About you

You are a dedicated and experienced professional with a strong background in human resources, specialising in fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace. With extensive expertise in engaging with and developing Indigenous talent, you are deeply committed to supporting Indigenous communities and advancing their career progression through innovative strategies and initiatives. You bring a proven track record in implementing talent management solutions, building meaningful stakeholder relationships, and driving strategic change to create inclusive environments. You are passionate about making a meaningful impact and are committed to advancing reconciliation goals.

Essential Key Selection Criteria

  1. Postgraduate qualifications in HR or other relevant discipline and extensive relevant experience in contemporary HR service delivery; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  2. Demonstrated experience in engaging with, and supporting Indigenous talent, with demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities.
  3. Demonstrated human resource management skills and a track record in deploying talent management strategies (attraction, development, movement and engagement) to achieve superior business outcomes.
  4. Excellent consulting and relationship management skills, with the proven ability to develop effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to interact, influence and negotiate at senior levels.
  5. Highly developed research, analytical and conceptual skills including demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate new concepts and information and deliver positive, innovative solutions.
  6. Strong project management skills with a proven understanding and application of all aspects of a project cycle, coupled with a track record of successful change management.
  7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to prepare and deliver technical and business papers, reports and proposals.
