Through community-led programs, Playgroup NSW also offers meaningful volunteer opportunities, empowering volunteers to foster connections through the power of play. With every program designed to help families navigate the challenges of parenting, create meaningful connections, and build strong, resilient communities.

The opportunity

We are seeking a MyTime facilitator in the ACT to be responsible for the facilitation of Playgroup NSW’s group(s) in the ACT according to MyTime guidelines. In addition to group facilitation, this role involves promoting family and community engagement with the MyTime program in the ACT to ensure a thriving MyTime community.

About MyTime

MyTime support groups are a national initiative for parents and carers of children aged 0-18 years with disability or a chronic medical condition. MyTime is an opportunity for members to socialise and share ideas with other parents and carers. The program helps parents find out about available community support and meet others who understand the rewards and intensity of the caring role.

About the Role

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Promote the MyTime Group(s), recruiting and engaging new members
  • Encourage group members to set the agenda and use their own strengths to support each other
  • Prepare and facilitate MyTime group sessions, ensuring that the MyTime Guiding Principles are embedded in all service delivery
  • Build the knowledge and skills of the group members by connecting with the local community and other support services within the area
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports as per Program requirements and in accordance with scheduled deadlines
  • Collaborate with local community stakeholders and partners to raise awareness of the MyTime program and to support referrals and access to the group
  • Actively participate in Playgroup NSW and PRC training and meetings as required
  • Work collaboratively with the Play Helper to ensure a supportive and inclusive playgroup experience for any children attending

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in the facilitation of adult groups, especially for peer support
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with and supporting the families and carers of children with disabilities and/or complex needs
  • Strong knowledge of community and services relevant to families and children (NDIS providers, family support, health, and education)
  • Strong team and networking skills, with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Willingness to travel between sites in the ACT region for groups, meetings and community engagement
  • Technology skills, including Microsoft 365
  • Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
