The Role

Lead and mentor a team of Early Childhood Educators in providing high quality early childhood education and care in the birth – 2 year old age group, in line with National Quality Frameworks and Poets Grove’s philosophy and values.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate about providing high-quality early childhood education and care
  • Have experience as an Early Childhood Room Leader
  • Have experience in the birth – two age group
  • Have excellent communication skills and ability to provide written accurate documentation that supports practice and compliance requirements
  • Have demonstrated capacity to lead and mentor a team
  • Have a proven ability to be a reflective practitioner of performance and practice
  • Be committed to ongoing quality improvement
  • Have the ability to maintain positive relationships with all families, offering support and guidance and encouraging participation in the program
  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Have the ability to make sound judgement-based decisions regarding the care, education and management of children
  • Demonstrate the ability to cooperatively work with all levels of staff across the centre
  • Be committed to ongoing professional learning and development

The Centre

Poets Grove Family & Children’s Centre is a highly regarded integrated service in Elwood with kindergarten, long day care and maternal and child health services. Educators are paid in accordance with Professional Childcare Standard employment agreement, offering higher rates of pay and better terms and conditions for employees, such as a wellbeing program. Poets Grove encourages paid professional development and offers a supportive workplace culture. Poets Grove offers a high staff to child ratio, generous planning time allocation and quality resourcing throughout the Centre.

As the ideal candidate for this position, you will have:

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA approved equivalent)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Fully Vaccinated
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting)
  • Current Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting certificate
  • Current Food Handlers certificate (desirable)
  • Minimum three years experience within Early Childhood Education sector
  • At least two years experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of primary caregiving an advantage
