Senior Marketing Manager - Flexible Location / Remote

Portable

Portable is looking for a passionate and motivated person to join us as a Senior Marketing Manager. We are open to people based anywhere in Australia for this role.

Here at Portable...

We are a design and technology company that cares about people and the world. Our purpose is to seek out areas of social need and policy failure and make transformational change using design and technology. Our clients and partners are as passionate as we are, and are working in top government agencies and nonprofit organisations across the country. Our job is to help them define, design and deliver new products, services and ways of working.

There are currently 65+ of us working as researchers, strategists, designers, developers, producers and visionaries towards our mission from our office in Collingwood and remotely across the country. We’re a progressive, inclusive organisation, we’re growing and we’re seeking people who want to help us create impact in the world.

Then there’s you...

A Senior Marketing Manager who can collaboratively develop and execute our marketing strategies, support a marketing-oriented culture across Portable’s business and drive awareness and engagement of our impact to the wider market, as well as to our partners and clients.

You’ll work within our dynamic business development team with four other high-performing people to deepen awareness across our target customers and help us generate new business through a range of engagement activities, including online campaigns, physical and virtual events and content, outreach and digital automations. Reporting directly to our Client Partner Lead, with a dotted line to the CEO, you’ll work across the entire business, connecting with our technology, design and production teams to understand our capability, processes and goals in order to communicate and amplify our impact across our target areas.

You’ll have the innate ability to be able to understand and translate our service offerings into well-crafted stories that resonate with people. This should all be underpinned by a deep understanding of our mission, vision and impact areas and leverage that to create new opportunities for our team to nurture and convert into new partnerships and customers.

You could be one if...

Marketing, communications and driving ethical impact through your work is your thing. You are a natural storyteller with robust communication skills, particularly in writing and public relations. You have solid experience in thinking holistically about a company, its growth and how core services can be described, shared and converted into leads and new business. The idea of creating and measuring digital campaigns and activities across a range of markets energises you, along with the opportunity to drive conversations about design, technology and social justice.

You may be working in another agency or on the client side: either way, you get excited understanding a company’s distinct language and culture, and translating that for the wider world (and into opportunities for further work). You are also interested in the people side of the role, so you love showing others how to succeed in marketing, events and showcasing themselves and their work.

If you were here last week, you may have:

  • Collaboratively created and launched a new digital campaign around an upcoming event on public transport accessibility and wayfinding innovations
  • Managed a paid search campaign on LinkedIn, and reported on its return on investment, and how it has or will lead to new opportunities for Portable
  • Published our popular Portable newsletter, including coordinating team input, celebrating recent projects and inviting the public to our upcoming drinks.
  • Prepared for your next marketing strategy catch up, which you lead and facilitate with our business directors and their design and technology leads
  • Prepared a new landing page for our latest R&D publication on scaling impact and growing purpose-driven ethical businesses
  • Delivered a case study on our recent work in mental health to the Portable website, with input from project team members and our designers
  • Attended an internal Design Safari to understand the learnings of a recent project from the design team

To be successful in this role, your outcomes will be:

  • Consistent, independent, timely and on-budget delivery of high quality marketing campaigns, events and activities across the company
  • Strong relationships are built and maintained with marketing and delivery partners, including internal team members and senior leadership
  • Execution of the company’s marketing strategy and other related strategies, in collaboration with with business directors and others
  • Improving and communicating our marketing practices and resources, including harnessing our CRM and other tools for business outcomes
  • New team members are proactively onboarded to our marketing practices
  • Knowledge, feedback and learning are regularly shared and applied across the business in order to improve the marketing practices and outcomes
  • Marketing activities contribute to the establishment of new client relationships, and business opportunities, as well as to quality recruitment and reputation
  • Significant contribution to the operation and success of the business development team, including input for proposals, working in the open, and client and internal meetings and communications as appropriate.

To achieve all this, it will be helpful if you have:

  • 5 years experience in a similar role at a similar level
  • Demonstrated success in executing marketing activities and outcomes of the type described above
  • A strong ability to craft compelling content, engage diverse audiences and communicate with impact
  • Knowledge and/or experience of digital and agency work, including production, design and/or technology
  • Familiarity with CRM software and processes, and a willingness to become an expert in data-driven client contact management
  • Ability to confidently and effectively engage senior people and key decision-makers - internal and external - to bring about outcomes
  • A commitment to ethical, human-centred and purpose-driven work, or experience and subject matter expertise in one of our impact areas: justice, mental health, death and ageing, education and sustainability

Remuneration:

The salary range for this role is between $100,000 - $130,000 plus super, depending on your level of experience.

We are committed to building a diverse and equal team, which is supported by a range of activities at Portable to make our workplace a great one for people from traditionally underrepresented groups. In other words, if you have a diverse background, we want you.

Other benefits include:

  • Bonus annual leave based on tenure
  • Paid volunteering leave
  • Option to purchase additional leave
  • Flexible working conditions
  • Employee share scheme
  • Annual professional development budget
  • Access to our Emerging Leaders program and a range of other professional development initiatives
