HousingFirst Ltd is seeking expressions of interest from prospective directors with the skills, energy and passion to contribute at the governance level to the organisation’s work in providing affordable, community managed housing across the Melbourne metropolitan area.

The board of HousingFirst meets a minimum of 6 times annually and directors are also required to be involved in at least one board committee. Committees generally meet in the cycle between board meetings.

HousingFirst is seeking applications to fill 2 board vacancies. The vacancies include:

1. One position for a person with a high degree of financial literacy, particularly in audit, who may take on the role of chairing HousingFirst’s Finance, Risk and Audit committee.
2. One position is general with the Board open to candidates.

We are looking for directors who demonstrate alignment with the values and mission of HousingFirst and with a commitment to the provision of quality, secure and affordable housing as a human right. Our directors need to be able to make a contribution based on expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Audit and risk management
• Provision of services to vulnerable groups
• Corporate governance & Legal
• Financial management and accounting
• Strategic leadership
• Infrastructure/Property

Candidates for both positions must meet the Board Director Key Selection Criteria and Board Capabilities.

To be considered for this opportunity you must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency Status. A National Police Check will also be required for the preferred candidate.

The organisation was established in 1986 and achieved registration as a Housing Association in 2005 under the Housing Act 1983 (Victoria).
