Saltbush Balnarring Beach is a small charity located on the Mornington Peninsula that provides low cost, short breaks for individuals and families experiencing disadvantage. Our mission is to offer stays for rest, connection and renewal for those who could not otherwise access this opportunity.
Working closely with our community service organisation referral partners, Saltbush welcomes guests from diverse backgrounds all year round.
Nestled on a beautiful 50 acre bushland property, 700m from Balnarring beach, Saltbush features six self contained holiday houses and a recreation centre. We offer a range of programs and services including:
- short respite stays
- nature-based school holiday activities for children, young people and families
- retreats tailored for carers
- school base community service projects.
At Saltbush, we focus on creating a friendly and welcoming environment where guests can de-stress and regain energy to navigate life's challenges.
Position summary
Implementation of the Saltbush communications and fundraising plan to raise greater community awareness of the organisation and support our fundraising activities.
Part Time position - 15.2 hours per week.
Key responsibilities
- lead and coordinate all communications through media releases, social media and donor campaigns
- Identify stories of interest, write media releases for a range of media channels
- Develop and execute a social media plan and strategy to grow our audience
- Write content for quarterly E-Newsletters for our growing supporter data base
- Collate content for the annual report and liaise with graphic designer
- Update and maintain content for the Saltbush website
- Develop marketing collateral to support the recruitment of new volunteers, attract donors and new referral agencies
- Represent Saltbush at community events
- Maintain our donor, volunteer and supporter database using Hubspot
- Maintain and develop our photo library
- Prepare grant submissions and manage grant applications
- Maintain a grants database to monitor grant applications, and acquittal reporting.
- Support CEO and volunteers with staging annual fundraising event
- Support the review and refinement of our evaluation methods to measure our social impact
- Support the operations of Saltbush e.g. administration, bookings, and on-site guest enquiries when the Operation Coordinator is away on annual leave.
Selection criteria
- Tertiary qualifications or relevant on the job experience in communications, journalism, marketing or relevant field
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in communications and/or fundraising role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create, write and edit content for a range of audiences (donors, supporters, volunteers, guests, referral partners)
- Demonstrate success in funding submissions
- Knowledge and experience using information systems including Microsoft Office suite.
- Desirable experience with Hubspot, Canva, Survey Monkey and social media platforms.
- Relationship building skills with diverse stakeholders
