About the opportunity

Primary Health Tasmania has a rare opportunity for a Clinical Epidemiologist to join the Program Strategy and Performance unit contributing to the overall improvement of public health and primary healthcare systems by understanding the factors that affect the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians. The team has access to the most extensive primary health datasets in Tasmania and comprises of a diverse range of professionals, including a public health physician, clinical epidemiologists, statisticians, health data analysts, data visualisation specialists, data engineers, and evaluation experts making it well-placed to advise and drive improvements in the primary health sector.

What would you be doing

Reporting to the Manager – Program Strategy, you will provide high level, expert epidemiological advice, studying patterns and factors that influence the health and service needs of the Tasmanian population. Your main goal is to provide evidence by designing and performing sophisticated health data analysis and reports to improve health outcomes and support the organisation for evidence-based decision making in health program planning and investment.

Here’s what you’ll look like

  • Tertiary qualifications in epidemiology, biostatistics or similar and expertise in analysing and applying data in clinical settings
  • Expertise in using a range of statistical software packages and analysing health administrative datasets
  • Advanced strategic thinking and planning skills and the ability to communicate epidemiological findings clearly and concisely
