Hotel Etico Australia is seeking a passionate and experienced Cook to join our dedicated team in delivering exceptional Italian inspired cuisine with a focus on social impact. Location: Hotel Etico, 11 Montgomery St, Mount Victoria, NSW, Australia

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure exceptional food quality at every stage, from preparation to presentation, while maximising staff efficiency and cooperation.
  • Assist the Head Chef in mise en place preparation and provide input on menu items when requested
  • Guarantee that the kitchen operates efficiently and meets quality standards.
  • Implement stock rotation and food preservation practices to avoid spoilage and prevent stock expiration.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition and promptly report faulty equipment to the Head Chef for further action. Coordinate necessary urgent repairs if instructed by Head Chef.
  • Adhere to food control and storage protocols to reduce waste and extend product shelf life
  • Practice and ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
  • Understand and comply with Food Safety and OHS standards, ensuring all kitchen staff follow these practices.
  • Prepare for upcoming events and functions as directed by the Head Chef, ensuring all required mise en place and cooking tasks are completed.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed based on the employee's skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Requirements:

  • Certificate/ Diploma in culinary and hospitality management or higher
  • Minimum two years relevant work experience
  • Attention to details
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Reliable and motivated
  • Team player and strong leadership
  • Good communication and management skill
  • Knowledge in special dietary requirement, food preservation, kitchen workstations (pans, grill, pass, fryer) and stocktaking
  • Knowledge in food safety and OHS work practice
