About the Role
Joining an established financial advocacy team, you will be working in close collaboration with our Aged Care Advocates. The Financial Advocate is responsible for providing specialist advice and support to advocates and older people receiving Commonwealth funded aged care services, to assist with understanding the costs and pricing to support consumer choice, including assisting with financial issue resolution.
Responsibilities include
- Provide support to our Aged Care Advocates to enhance their understanding of Commonwealth funded aged care services, fees and charges.
- Provide targeted aged care costs information, advocacy, and education to aged care consumers with a focus on complex cases and resolution.
- Support National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) advocates at ADA Australia with complex queries relating to financial advocacy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key aged care organisations.
- Contribute to the reporting of data.
- Actively lead or participate in team and client meetings.
- Actively maintain financial knowledge and understanding.
- Conduct face-to-face client meetings.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in a finance related discipline.
- Knowledge of aged care finance and relationship to Services Australia and Centrelink.
- Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate it in a clear and simple manner.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply legislation, policies and procedures.
- Proven ability to identify issues and problem solve.
- Experience and understanding of advocacy or consumer education initiatives.
- High-level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to change, manage conflict and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite and client database management systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout Brisbane.

Essential requirements
- Valid Australian Driver’s license.
- Current (within 3 years old) Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Valid Working with Children/Blue Card.
