The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) is the peak body for youth justice and child protection in Queensland. Along with our 38 member organisations and partners, we are committed to creating positive futures for children, young people, families and communities.
By sharing our collective knowledge and experience, we can all make a positive impact on policies and practices to stop the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Queensland’s child protection and youth justice systems.
The Centre of Excellence within QATSICPP aspires to facilitate the ownership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander intellectual property relating to children and families to support, enable and drive change in the Queensland child protection system to ensure best practice in delivering outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
The Project Officer position involves contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a facilitator's guide for the Healing Our Children and Young People framework, which addresses the impacts of domestic and family violence (DFV) in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland.
Working alongside 8 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Wellbeing Services (FWS) in Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, Mareeba, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba/Southwest region, Rockhampton, and the Torres Strait, the Project Officer will develop and implement the guide and ensure its effectiveness in supporting healing services for children affected by DFV.
The role includes providing implementation support, such as training and community of practice facilitation, and leading the evaluation of the guide's implementation.
Our vision is a future where all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people are physically, emotionally, and spiritually strong, live in a safe, caring and nurturing environment within their own families and communities, and are afforded the same life opportunities available to other children and young people to fully realise their potential.
