- Work Type: Permanent – 38 Hours per week.

- Total Remuneration: $106,390 per year (pro rata where applicable), plus 11.5% Superannuation, 17.5% leave loading and the option to salary sacrifice up to $15,900 to increase your take home pay

About the role?
The Financial Accountant reports to the Finance & Corporate Services Manager (FCSM).
This position works as part of a team where interdependencies and collaboration with colleagues, QDN members and internal and external stakeholders is critical to the successful delivery of projects, services and activities.
This position’s primary purpose is to ensure QDN’s finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end and year end accounting procedures including audit, payroll processing and grant acquittal requirements are managed effectively.
The position also manages the Office Manager who is responsible for the delivery of administrative requirements across 2 premises.
What will you bring to the role?
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercising appropriate initiative and judgement to solve problems and seek guidance where appropriate.
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting with payroll and HR skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 with strong excel skills required.
- Experience in other software applications including MYOB.
- The ability to comply with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation and frameworks including Work Health and Safety requirements, QDN’s processes, NDIS Quality and Safeguards and Queensland Human Rights Act.

What will you do in the role?
- Manage QDN financial audit and preparation of annual financial statements for presentation to CEO, FCSM and Board for signing.
- Preparation of the monthly management reports to ensure sound financial governance, including analysing variances and proactively initiating corrective actions.
- Manage the financial management and acquittal of grant and funding obligations with QDN’s diverse grant funding entities.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processing by the Accounts Officer providing expert advice and assist as required.
- In conjunction with the CEO & FCSM coordinate the annual budget and half year forecast.
- Work with the QDN Senior Leadership Team, providing advice on financial processes, budgets and expenditure.
- In conjunction with the Accounts Officer, maintain the MYOB accounting system and ensure all employee, customer and supplier details are accurate and up to date.
- Assist the Office Manager where required with new staff on boarding and orientation.
- Manage and process fortnightly payroll requirements including all payroll related obligations.
- Manage and oversee in conjunction with the Office Manager, Governance, IT, Human Resources and administrative support.
- Coordinate the organisational approach and implementation of QDN’s financial papers and electronic records and documents in accordance with the organisation’s procedures and ensure compliance with all relevant national and state legislation.
- Assist in managing QDN’s financial compliance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation and frameworks including QDN’s Quality Management System, NDIS Quality and Safeguards and Queensland Human Rights Act.
- Assist with the continuous improvement of the organisation’s financial services processes.
- Co-ordinate the requirements, including preparation of financial details, for the Audit & Compliance Committee (A&CC)
- Undertake other duties and projects as required by the FCSM.

Key Job Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA/CA preferred.
- Detailed knowledge and abilities in financial and related technologies (MYOB desired)
- Strong Excel Skills Essential.
- Experience with grant management and acquittal requirements would be highly desirable.
