Key responsibilities

As the Directorate Support Officer of the Commission’s Public Policy and Prevention Directorate, you will:

  • Provide administrative support to the Deputy Commissioner and Directors and across our multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day business of the Directorate by proactively managing meeting preparation and follow-up actions, diary and calendar arrangements, document management, planning, and preparation.
  • Support and manage stakeholder relationships by liaising, consulting and maintaining effective relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders, tailoring communication and advice to meet the needs of diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Provide project and administrative support to project teams, lawyers and policy staff across the Directorate by managing a range tasks, including conducting and compiling research and analysis within specified parameters; organising meetings and preparing related papers, reports or agendas; developing and maintaining information systems; assisting with event management; and coordinating recruitment across the team.
  • Contribute to high impact policy work, including for example reviews of public entities’ policies, programs, procedures, practices and services in relation to their compatibility with human rights, or in developing guidance for duty holders about their obligations under anti-discrimination law.
  • Manage with attention to detail all information management processes utilised across the Directorate with proficiency working within Microsoft SharePoint and Office software.
  • Contribute to a safe and agile workforce, by assisting in other projects, tasks and functions across other business areas within the Directorate and the Commission, when reasonably required.

This role would be suited to a motivated early career professional looking to develop their skills within a legal context, or a confident administrative officer with experience coordinating complex projects.
