The Commission provides a range of services to support people in Queensland understand and pursue their rights by providing:

  • An expert dispute resolution service for discrimination and human rights complaints
  • Statewide enquiry service to help build understanding or rights and responsibilities
  • Education and training for businesses, organisations, government, and the community

The Commission also actively contributes towards the systematic prevention of discrimination, vilification and sexual harassment. We do this through:

  • Supporting the development of policy and legislation to better protect rights
  • Increasing public understanding and discussion of human rights and responsibilities
  • Providing guidance, undertaking research and conducting reviews to support duty holders to uphold their responsibilities

We are seeking a Principal Dispute Resolution Officer, who will manage a team of dispute resolution officers, supporting and empowering your team to resolve complaints flexibly, effectively and in accordance with the relevant legislation.

With strong legislative interpretation skills combined with alternative dispute resolution experience, you will lead and empower a high performing team in line with organisational objectives.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Manage the daily operations of a team of dispute resolution officers to ensure your team is providing efficient and effective dispute resolution services within operational and legislative requirements.
  • Manage complex and sensitive complaints and customer service complaints.
  • Make complex administrative decisions within the legislative framework.
  • Support the Director, Enquiries and Dispute Resolution to improve operational performance including reviewing policies and procedures, and development and delivery of staff training.
  • Contribute to service improvements including an upgrade of the Commission’s customer relationship management systems, records management systems, processes and manuals and customer communications.
  • Support the Commission to embed a trauma-informed approach to dispute resolution.
  • Support staff wellbeing and manage the impact of vicarious trauma.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective stakeholder relationships to support and improve dispute resolution services.
  • Maintain knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the Commission’s dispute resolution services.

This is permanent, flexible full-time time role based in our Brisbane Head Office. We are based in the CBD with easy access to public transport.
