QSAN

The Queensland Sexual Assault Network Inc. (QSAN) is a network of non-Government services funded to provide specialist sexual assault counselling, support and prevention programs in Queensland. QSAN is the peak body for sexual violence prevention and support organisations in Queensland. QSAN are committed to working collaboratively towards ensuring all Queenslanders who experience sexual violence – recently or historically, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, cultural background – receive a high-quality response in line with best practice, client-centred principles.

QSAN is recruiting for a fixed term, part or full time Secretariat. This position is expected to commence as early as possible in January 2021 to the 31st December 2022. The fixed term contract is up to 76 hours per fortnight with the option for a part time job share arrangement considered. The position is open to applicants residing anywhere is Queensland. The role has been designed to maximise flexibility for the worker.

Position summary

The QSAN Secretariat is a lead role in sexual violence prevention and advocacy in Queensland. The QSAN Secretariat is broadly accountable to QSAN Network and Management Committee for decisions taken. The QSAN Secretariat is required to:

  • Act in accordance with QSAN’s aims, objectives and philosophy.
  • Support a gendered analysis of sexual violence.
  • Work within a collaborative practice and decision-making model.

The QSAN Secretariat will work collaboratively with the QSAN Management Committee and member services to identify priorities for the position, and in undertaking the following primary activities / duties:

  • Acting as an initial contact point for QSAN member services and the Management Committee and key stakeholders.
  • Establishing and/or strengthening connections between specialist sexual assault support and prevention services.
  • Systemic advocacy in regard to sexual violence.
  • Community education in regard to sexual violence.
  • QSAN network development.

Applicants must have qualifications (bachelor degree minimum) in social and behavioural sciences, law or a related field, extensive work experience in the sexual violence sector or a related sector and values that align with the aims, objectives and philosophy of QSAN (www.qsan.org.au). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
