Field Organiser - Maiwar

The Queensland Greens Inc

The Queensland Greens is recruiting a Field Organiser to help lead field campaigns in Brisbane’s inner west ahead of the 2024 Council and State elections, and assist with campaigning on local issues within the Maiwar electorate.

The Greens provide a real alternative to the tired, cynical politics of Labor and the Liberal party. Unlike the two old parties, The Greens has a proud history of standing up for what is right, not just what is easy or what polls well. Over the course of the last four decades, the Greens has become the third force in Australian politics. Across Australia there are currently Greens representing you at every level of government.

The Field Officer will be working primarily with the Ryan and Maiwar campaign teams, as well as staff employed on the Walter Taylor and Paddington campaigns as part of the ‘nested’ strategy for the west side. The successful candidate will also be required to liaise with the Maiwar Electorate Office, which works alongside other Queensland Greens representatives, particularly Amy MacMahon State MP for South Brisbane and Elizabeth Watson-Brown, Federal MP for Ryan.

About the role

The Maiwar Field Organiser will help lead field campaigns in Brisbane’s inner west ahead of the 2024 Council and State elections, and assist with campaigning on local issues within the Maiwar electorate. The Maiwar Field Organiser must have a commitment to the values and platform on which the current Maiwar MP, Michael Berkman, was elected, and must display sound political and strategic judgement. The Maiwar Field Organise must have experience working in a similar setting (either a political office, election campaign or other campaign experience). Experience working for social and political change in any setting, including community-based and unpaid roles will be considered. The Maiwar Lead Organiser role ultimately reports to the Queensland Greens State Director. The line manager is the Maiwar Lead Organiser and then Michael. Work plans will be set by Michael in consultation with the State Director.
