Animal Ethics Committee

Queensland University of Technology (QUT)

The University Animal Ethics Committee (UAEC) is guided in its operation by the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes (the Code) and by the Animal Care and Protection Act (QLD).

QUT is seeking additional members to join the UAEC to further support the research activities of the University in the following categories:

  • Category A, a person with qualifications in veterinary science that is recognised for registration as a veterinary surgeon in Australia and with experience relevant to the institutions activities or the ability to acquire relevant knowledge.
  • Category C, a person with demonstrable commitment to, and established experience in furthering the welfare of animals, who is not currently involved in the care and use of animals for scientific purposes. While not representing an animal welfare organisation, the person should, where possible, be selected on the basis of active membership of, and endorsement by, such an organisation.
  • Category D, an independent person from the wider community, not employed, retained or enrolled as a student or otherwise associated with the University, who does not have a partner or family member who is an employee or student at QUT and who has never been involved in the use of animals in scientific or teaching activities, either in their employment or beyond their undergraduate education.

This is a great opportunity to contribute your knowledge and expertise to the world of research at QUT.
