Your new role

  • Permanent, Full time or Part time located in Deakin, ACT
  • Annual Salary between $98,185.54 to $102,491.77, plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

As part of the Clinical & Communities Program (CCP) team, the position provides counselling services to children, young people and families who are seeking improved relationships or the resolution of relationship issues.

Duties

Under the supervision of the Manager and Senior Clinician Early Intervention Services, the Child and Youth Counsellors are responsible for:

  • Providing support and counselling services to children, young people and their families in accordance with RACR service guidelines and assess and respond to risks identified including family and domestic violence, suicide risk and children at risk.
  • Completion of all data requirements including case notes, statistical and administrative records for each session or activity.
  • Delivering outreach services and group programs as required.
  • Co-facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups targeted towards Children, young people and/or parents
  • Developing and maintaining contact with other agencies and key stakeholders for the purpose of referral, networking and promotion of the service.

What you’ll need to succeed

  1. Relevant experience and qualification in the field of Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Social Science. Current registration/membership with at least one of the following: Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA); Australian Association for Social Workers (AASW); Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and Level 2 or above Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
  2. Ability to demonstrate a systemic and theoretical approach to counselling (including familiarity with systems theory) and demonstrate an understanding of the practice frameworks applicable to working with children, young people and families in reducing the impact of trauma and vicarious trauma.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of family violence, crisis intervention models, and grief and loss in the context of family separation and child development.
  4. Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and initiative where appropriate, set priorities and monitor workflows.
