Your new role

  • 1 x Permanent, Full time located at Deakin, ACT
  • Annual Salary between $85,120.35 to $91,586.55, plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

The Family Advisor assists practitioners in delivering quality integrated services to RACR clients by providing a stepped care model that includes, information, intake, screening, referrals and case coordination. They also need to liaise with a range of external stakeholders.

This position is part of the Restorative Services team and will be the first point of contact for people who experienced childhood sexual violence in institutional care, people impacted by historical forced adoption practices, and those who spent time in care as a child.

Duties

In consultation with the Manager and Senior Clinicians, the Family Advisor is responsible for:

  • Providing holistic, trauma-informed and responsive screening, intake and referral for individuals and families to identify their support needs and refer appropriately to internal (RACR services) and external organisations
  • Organising client appointment times and follow up clients where necessary
  • Being sensitive and responsive to the needs and issues faced by disadvantaged and vulnerable client groups, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families and communities
  • Providing case coordination services in liaison with the practitioner
  • Collecting and maintaining client data in line with RACR policies and procedures and any government statistical database system

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Certificate IV in Community Services or a related field (or actively working towards formal qualification).
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess client needs, including communicating with vulnerable clients and demonstrated ability to assess risk and prioritise accordingly.
  • Demonstrated experience in person-centred, trauma-informed supports and responses and knowledge of services available to families and children.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultural communities and knowledge of issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with a disability, culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and communities and LGBTQIA+ communities.
  • Computer literate and demonstrated ability in data entry and sound organisational skills.
