Your new role

  • Part time (0.6FTE or 3 days per week) Fixed Term 12 Months based in Wagga Wagga, NSW
  • Annual Salary between $85,120.35 to $91,586.55 pro rata plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

By leveraging lived experience and cultural knowledge, the CALD Peer Worker will contribute to more inclusive, accessible, and effective service delivery.

Duties

In collaboration with the Manager, the CALD Family Peer Support Worker will:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with multicultural communities, acting as a bridge between RACR services and community members to improve awareness and accessibility of support services.
  • Assist community members in navigating referral pathways to RACR programs and external services, providing culturally appropriate guidance and support to those experiencing family challenges.
  • Deliver community education sessions on topics such as family relationships, domestic and family violence, and available support services, working to reduce stigma and encourage help-seeking behaviour.
  • Provide cultural insights and lived experience perspectives to RACR teams, contributing to the development of more inclusive and culturally responsive service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of community engagement activities, referrals, and education sessions, contributing to service reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Identify as having lived experience of family challenges within a multicultural community and demonstrate stability in your personal circumstances.
  • Be willing to effectively, respectfully, and appropriately use your lived experience of family challenges to support and engage with community members in your daily work.
  • Be willing to to co-facilitate education groups, identify any risk issues and seek support from clinical staff where needed
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with community organisations and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Understanding of principles of confidentiality, and rights and responsibilities of clients within community sector context
