We are:

Refugee Advice & Casework Service (RACS), a nonprofit providing essential legal support and advocacy for people who have fled persecution to find safety in Australia. We help refugees, people seeking asylum, stateless individuals and those who are displaced. Our vision is of justice and dignity for and with refugees and since 1987, we've helped tens of thousands of people secure protection in Australia.

RACS provides free, dedicated legal services to people seeking asylum and refugees. Through individual advice sessions, community education and public advocacy, RACS strives to ensure that individuals and families, at risk of persecution or other forms of significant harm, gain access to equal and fair representation before the law, and are granted protection by Australia, and opportunities to seek family unity, in accordance with Australia’s international obligations.

The Role:

The primary role of the IT Support Officer is to provide first level support to the entire RACS team of staff, volunteers and interns.
This is a full-time parental leave cover contract to 31 October and is based in Randwick. Travel to our key locations in Parramatta and Auburn may be required from time to time. This role is expected to work mainly on site at our Randwick office, with occasional work from home permitted.

You will:

Report to the Head of Technology and work with the offsite Managed Service Provider to facilitate a stable and functioning M365 environment, including support of the PCs, printers and telephony.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical assistance for daily work through the MS Azure platform
  • Logging support requests with external parties and liaising with the Head of Technology on recurring problems.
  • Creating, managing and maintaining hardware, software and licenses/fees inventory database
  • Management of the Office 365, Azure environment
  • Ensuring telephony system (Teams Telephony) is stable, effective and efficient
  • Maintaining Client SMS software
  • Ensuring all IT charges/invoices are correct and accurate (telephony, internet, copiers, mobiles etc.)
  • Assisting with CRM – Salesforce & Client Management Software.
  • Escalating problems or issues to the Head of Technology and/or Managed Service Provider in a timely manner.

You are:

A problem solver with strong communications skills looking for an opportunity to use your support skills to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people. The successful candidate will have the following:

Essential

  • 2 years’ experience in technical support
  • Strong communications skills & troubleshooting abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Desire to make a difference for human rights and social justice
  • Working knowledge of Modern Workplace practices not limited to Microsoft Intune/SharePoint/PowerApps

Desirable

  • Experience working in a Community Legal Centre and/or the ability to work in an environment with limited resources
  • Demonstrated ability to use a client database – preferably CLASS
  • Communications skills in a language other than English will be considered highly favourably.

Salary

The remuneration for the position is at the SCHADS Award rate Level 2-3 depending on the experience of the successful candidate, plus superannuation contribution and loadings. Salary packaging is available to enable you to increase your take home pay.
