What you'll do

As a Caseworker & Group Facilitator at Wattle Place, you'll play a key role in supporting Forgotten Australians.

You will provide a mix of therapeutic casework, practical assistance, and group facilitation to foster social connection and personal growth for clients who have experienced complex childhood trauma. Your role will focus on offering trauma-informed, strengths-based support tailored to each client's needs.

You'll:

  • Deliver strengths-based, trauma-informed casework to support clients with practical and emotional needs
  • Assist clients with supported file release, family tracing, and other documentation processes
  • Manage the client journey from referral to case closure, ensuring comprehensive case management
  • Plan and deliver 2-3 groups per week (in-person and online), including social support, psychoeducation, and special interest groups (e.g., walking groups, BBQs)
  • Foster open dialogue and create a welcoming space where clients feel heard and valued
  • Support the planning and execution of community-building events and activities
  • Adapt group content to meet the evolving needs of participants while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment

The details

  • 3 days per week, based in Harris Park
  • Part time contract until 30.06.2026 with potential for extension
  • $47 per hour + 11.5% super, 17.5% leave loading and tax-free salary packaging up to $15,900. (Increase your take home pay! Calculate Your Savings at https://www.salary.com.au/calculate-your-savings)
  • Extra annual leave days between Christmas and New Year
  • Excellent professional development, regular clinical supervision

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience providing casework and/or therapeutic support to individuals with complex childhood trauma
  • Proven ability to facilitate groups, including social support and psychoeducation, with a focus on building connection and personal growth
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including managing client records and documentation
  • Ability to work autonomously while maintaining open communication with a collaborative team
  • Flexibility to deliver in-person and online services, adapting to client needs and group dynamics
  • Understanding of the historical context of Forgotten Australians and the long-term impacts of institutional care
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or equivalent
