About the Role

As our Men’s Behaviour Change (MBC) Caseworker, you will work directly with men who use violence and abuse in their relationships, to promote change and to take accountability for their use of violence. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver therapeutic casework and facilitate group sessions, helping to create lasting change in the lives of men, their partners, and their families. You’ll:

  • Provide individual therapeutic casework sessions for MBC program participants, focusing on behaviour change, accountability and safety
  • Conduct sessions via face-to-face, telephone, video, and other mediums, adhering to RANSW policies and procedures
  • Facilitate groupwork programs within a mixed-gender co-facilitation team, using a feminist lens and balancing empathy with accountability
  • Use invitational approaches to encourage participants to take responsibility for their behaviour
  • Address identified risks to victim survivors, including children by assessing and referring clients to appropriate services
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive case plans, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of client records
  • Apply person-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches in all interactions with clients

The details

  • Part-time contract until 30.06.2026
  • 3 days a week, based in Blacktown
  • $46 - $52 per hour (depending on skills & experience) + 11.5% super + 17.5% leave loading and tax-free salary packaging up to $15,900. (Increase your take home pay. Calculate Your Savings at https://www.salary.com.au/calculate-your-savings)

What you’ll bring

  • Graduate qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with families impacted by Domestic and Family Violence (DFV)
  • Experience working with men who use violence, and an understanding of men’s behaviour change practice, including issues such as collusion, coercion, or cooperative practice
  • Experience working with women and children who are victim-survivors of DFV
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their application in practice
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring cultural safety and sensitivity
  • Group facilitation skills, particularly in men’s behaviour change programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust, empathy, and accountability
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including databases and Microsoft Office
  • Completion or willingness to complete relevant MBC practice training, such as a Graduate Certificate in MBC (desirable)
