Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is a secular, community-based, not-for-profit organisation with no religious affiliations who have been providing services to the Victorian community for over 75 years. Our vision is for “positive, respectful, safe and fulfilling relationships for all Australians”.
The Gippsland Youth Enhanced Service (YES) will provide enhanced support to young people 12-25 years of age who are living with, or at risk of severe and complex mental health issues, and who require a greater level of support than what can be provided by GPs, private clinicians, headspace services and school counsellors. Often referred to as the system’s ‘missing middle’, the needs of this cohort of young people are typically considered to be too complex to be met by the primary mental health care system, but not acute enough for the tertiary mental health system. The program will include holistic and high-quality mental health and psycho-social supports that will be continuously adapted to meet the changing needs of young people.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team to provide strength-based support, mentoring and advocacy to young people and their families. Engaging with clinical staff and key stakeholders, you will work to reduce stigma and identify/address barriers to assist young people through their recovery journey in a way that promotes individual strengths, empowerment, independence and hope. Psychosocial education and co facilitation of group work also forms a part of this role.
We are seeking a part-time candidate to work three (3) days per week (including Tuesday evening shifts). You can choose to work at any of RAV’s Gippsland centres (Wonthaggi, Sale and Gippsland). This position is fixed term contract until June 2025, with potential to move to a permanent contract, subject to funding of the program.
The base salary is $81k (pro-rata) per annum.
We encourage candidates to apply as soon as possible by sending their application and resume so we can progress to interviews. You can view the position description for further information. If you have a specific query, contact Cate Chaiyot, Manager Youth Mental Health Services by phoning 0418 463 680.
Candidates will be required to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination status or medical exemption during their application process.
RAV is committed to building and supporting an inclusive and diverse workforce and encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, those from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTIQA+ communities and people with disabilities. We are committed to the safety of our clients and staff and promote a child-safe work environment. We recognise the lifelong impacts of childhood trauma and recognise those who had children taken away from them. All staff must undergo a National Police Check, International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check. RAV is a public benevolent institution.
A position description is attached.
