The Organisation
Adventure Patch is a community-based organisation established in 1980, providing quality children's services for children birth to 13 years of age.
Adventure Patch has over 40 years of experience in developing, innovating and delivering Early Childhood Education and Care Services, encouraging children to explore, discover, play, get messy and connect with nature.
A unique and quality childcare service, Adventure Patch focuses on the individual child and how they learn, while recognising that a child's development can be enhanced if they are guided by compassionate Educators who promote play, fun and adventure.
The position
We are seeking a director that has any of the following formal qualifications or experience in:
- Marketing: or
- Economics, Law, Commerce and/ or Business: or
- Early Childhood and Education Care: or
- Not-for-profit sector.
You will bring demonstrated experience in a number of the following areas:
- Knowledge and understanding of corporate governance and statutory compliance requirements, with previous experience in the not-for-profit sector preferred.
- Ability to identify strategic opportunities and threats with demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic priorities and achievement of business objectives.
- Ability to think strategically, and experience of high-level decision-making.
- Ability to read and comprehend corporate accounts, financial materials and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience in implementing, managing or overseeing risk management and compliance frameworks including legal and regulatory compliance.
- Appropriate understanding of legal concepts and frameworks applicable to both the role of director and the industries in which the company operates.
- Experience at a senior level for people management and successful implementation of change.
- Experience in relation to community and stakeholder engagement
You will be expected to have:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to function effectively as a collaborative team member and cultivate positive working relationships.
- Directors will have a presence within the company and attend associated industry and stakeholder events.
- A commitment to working within the parameters of our Adventure Patch philosophy and values.
Attendance at Meetings
Board meetings are held bi-monthly, generally on the third Wednesday of the month, at 6:30pm. Attendance is usually in person at the Adventure Patch facilities in the
Kingston area, or via MS Teams. Between meetings, interaction occurs through various committees, MS Teams, phone and email.
The various committees meet at times convenient to the committee members.

Payment: Voluntary role, without remuneration. Reimbursement of expenses. Professional Development opportunities.
