About the Indigenous Governance Program (IGP)

The Indigenous Governance Program (IGP) brings together people, organisations and communities in learning about, sharing the success of community-led Indigenous governance practices as part of our national reconciliation journey.

IGP encompasses the bi-annual Indigenous Governance Awards in partnership with Australian Indigenous Governance Institute and collaborative partnership initiatives that support Indigenous organisations and communities to shape their own futures.

The role

This role manages the Indigenous Governance Program (IGP) including the Indigenous Governance Awards (IGA’s), Indigenous Governance Network and Partnership Initiatives, as well as support the development and delivery of Indigenous Governance resources and events.

Reporting to the General Manager, Policy Research and Strategic Program, this individual will manage the activities and professional development of the Senior Officers and collaborate closely with the Reconciliation Action Plan management team and colleagues across Reconciliation Australia.

About you

Essential:

  1. High level ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations, government, corporate and the not-for-profit sectors.

Desirable:

  1. High level ability to manage complex programs, including the development and implementation of an effective program cycle.
  2. Strong management and organisational skills including project and/or events management and financial management skills.
  3. Highly developed ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely.
  4. High level ability to work in a team environment and collaboratively with other teams across Reconciliation Australia.
  5. Experience and ability to lead, manage and develop a team.
  6. Ability to take initiative and to prioritise work over a range of projects and meet deadlines.
  7. High order written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely.
  8. Deep understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their cultures and issues affecting them.
  9. Commitment and willingness to learn about and contribute to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.
  10. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  11. Experience in and/or an understanding of Indigenous Governance.

Salary and other details

The salary range for this role is $110,000 – $120,000 (Including 17.5% leave loading) + Superannuation, dependent on experience and qualifications.
