  • Status: Full Time Fixed Term 2 x positions available! (1 x until 30 June 2024 and 1 x until 11 August 2023)
  • Salary: $78,725 - $98,406 p.a. + 10.5% superannuation contribution

About Us

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Opportunity

The Health Promotion Officer will facilitate and support the planning, implementation and evaluation of best practice health promotion initiatives that address priority health issues in Cape York.

It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with organisational policy requirements.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary degree in Health Promotion or a relevant Post Graduate Diploma or Masters Qualification in Health Promotion
  • Demonstrated health promotion project planning and management experience with the ability to effectively conduct a needs assessment and complete the planning, implementation and evaluation of best practice health promotion projects in a timely manner and within budget
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to address priority health issues in remote community settings
  • Previous experience developing strong and effective relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders including community members
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
  • Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence
