VIEW FILM TEASER.

Future Council envisions a world where young leaders drive change and actively design a better future in collaboration with corporate, institutional and political leaders. Where those who will inherit the earth are empowered to have a say in the decisions that directly impact on the health of the planet.

The film will be theatrically released in Australia in mid-2025, followed by an international roll-out that will reach millions of children who are encouraged to sign up and join the Future Council at the end of the film. Even before its official release, the film has played at numerous film festivals and inside the United Nations at the 79th General Assembly. Future Council has the backing of global companies like ING bank, Universal Music, and Decathlon.

Future Council is an adult supported global movement of empowered children working with businesses, institutions, and schools to mobilize and expedite action. The entity is structured as a not-for-profit organisation.

Role purpose

As the inaugural COO, you are an agile and accomplished leader in operations and governance, with extensive experience across both NFP and commercial entities. You have demonstrated skills and expertise in building organisations from the ground up, managing key relationships, establishing robust governance, strategic planning and fundraising, as well as stakeholder engagement.

You will deliver inspirational leadership ensuring that the Future Council is established with a strong and robust foundation. Developing and nurturing relationships with stakeholders including the board, staff, individual and corporate supporters, sponsor and partners.

This role will work closely with the Future Council founders to establish and build this new organisation from the ground up. Whilst the role will be supported, initially, by the Regen Studios team as well as having access to an external bookkeeper, accountant and legal advisors, it is imperative that the successful candidate is hands-on, capable and comfortable getting their hands on the tools.

This is a brand-new role and presents an exciting opportunity to build strong foundations and launch Future Council as a global platform for youth empowerment in conjunction with the film’s release later this year.

Key Responsibilities

The COO will be required to meet annual Key Performance Indicators determined by the Founders.

The specific duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide high-level strategic leadership that thinks with agility to develop and operationalise a strategic plan for the organisation.
  • Establish Future Council as a best-in-class provider of tools and resources to support the integration of young voices into decision making across businesses and schools.
  • Establish and manage the business, governance, legal and financial aspects of the organisation - including developing operational policies, budget setting, appropriate allocation of resources, financial and tax reporting - ensuring that Future Council is compliant with the regulations governing an incorporated association.
  • In conjunction with the Board, build and manage strategic alliances and partnerships with philanthropists, educational institutions, corporate partners and industry organisations nationally and internationally to increase membership, secure financial support and consolidate ongoing growth for the organisation.
  • Recruit and manage a core team who will provide direct support to Future Council members, supporters and partners to ensure efficient operation of the organisation and successful delivery of all activities and initiatives.
  • Some national and international travel may be required to build networks both domestically and internationally.

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Demonstrable experience in leadership roles in the NFP or private sector with an entrepreneurial approach
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, governance, fundraising and financial management.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals.

Ideally you will also have:

  • A background in establishing not for profits and/or entrepreneurial start-ups
  • Experience working in or with organisations that empower and enable young people.
