About the Role

You will provide leadership in the development, effective coordination, and facilitation of the Healing Our Children (HOC) program. HOC being an early intervention six session group program for Aboriginal women, which aims to prevent trauma in young children under 3 years of age and provide opportunities for healing and repairing relationships for women and children experiencing violence and abuse.

You will undertake service design principles, oversee protocols, general administrative duties and promote Relationships Australia NT’s services in the wider community.

You will support, mentor and coordinate up to two other Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander group facilitators' and together deliver the Healing Our Children group program in urban and remote locations in the Top End.

About You

  • Qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or another relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Coordinator within in the Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) field.
  • Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with women, children, or families in a professional setting.
  • Proven experience in the facilitation of group programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the long-term impacts of trauma including violence, abuse and neglect on children and family functioning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice including theories of child development, trauma theory and attachment theory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the issues affecting women and children in Aboriginal communities and a capacity to respond to their emotional, physical and spiritual needs.
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising Aboriginal staff and leading a small team.
  • Ability to undertake professional and community liaison, networking, in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, the community, service providers and government agencies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve direct outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity and willingness to travel to Remote Locations (e.g., Tiwi Islands).
