ABOUT RESILIENT LISMORE INC

Resilient Lismore Inc is a grassroots, community-led disaster recovery organisation that first formed as Lismore's Helping Hands during the 2017 floods. We are a community based charitable organisatation that is supporting residents of Lismore and surrounding communities as we continue to recover from the devastating flooding that occurred in February 2022.

Our aim is to connect people with volunteer help, provide donated goods and help residents to return to their homes.

This contract position has been created to assist Resilient Lismore to deliver ‘The Two Rooms Project’ as part of Resilient Lismore’s Community Rebuild activities. The role of the Team Leader is to provide support to our Field Coordinator and Community Rebuild Project Managers; and to support Resilient Lismore’s to help residents repair and return to their homes.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will provide essential oversight of volunteers working ‘in the field’, and assist with the delivery of repair work as part of Resilient Lismore’s community recovery.

REPORTING TO

Field Coordinator and Project Managers

RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Supervision

  • Supervise volunteers working on the community recovery and rebuild project, in collaboration with the Field Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator
  • Supervision and training of 'Two Rooms’ teams - re-sheeting homes
  • Ensure all volunteers have been briefed on safety protocols and oversee safe working practices in the field
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure that volunteers are only tasked to sites that are safe
  • Assist Resilient Lismore to improve policies and procedures for volunteers working ‘in the field’

Community Rebuild

  • Deliver Additional works as required to progress general community rebuild jobs
  • Identify and advise on recovery and rebuild project needs (e.g. materials, specialist skills) including additional repair jobs required to ensure ‘safe, secure and warm’ homes
  • Work with Resilient Lismore core team to source donations (e.g. products, materials, tools) for the community rebuild and recovery project if possible
  • Oversee quality control of Two Rooms jobs
  • Manage ordering and delivery of Two Rooms materials in consultation with the Field Coordinator
  • Identify process improvements to ensure efficient and effective project service delivery
  • Report any incidents in the field to the Operations Manager and other coordinators
  • Assist with any community skills workshops as required
  • Provide general advice to community regarding best practice as required
  • Work closely with RL Field Coordinator, Project Managers and Volunteer Coordinator to schedule works
  • Report significant works required on individual homes as they are identified to Field Coordinator and Project Managers before progressing or making any commitment to the homeowner

Other

  • Assist with other duties as requested by the Field Coordinator
  • Assist with reporting and record keeping to include
    • Effective usage of products
    • Tracking of cost of materials per household
    • estimates of ‘market value’ of rebuild work being delivered
    • Identifying and reporting trends that are holding up homeowners from progressing their rebuild
  • All team members will also need to understand and apply the foundational aspects of Resilient Lismore’s work
  • Tracking progress and managing tasks within Monday.com
  • Linking community members to donations and resources through GIVIT and other opportunities
  • Conducting needs assessments
  • Managing the tool library
  • Engaging with the wider community in our Facebook group
  • Accessing and referring volunteers, staff, and community members to RL well-being support and to external services

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Volunteer Management / Team Leadership
  • Skills and understanding of Carpentry, Renovation, Trades and Construction
  • Understanding of Risk Management and OH&S

Highly desirable

  • Strong connection to Lismore and the Northern Rivers
  • Understanding of Trauma informed communications
  • Background or understanding of the Community Services Sector
