Read the below information outlining the position description, skills required (selection criteria) and terms and conditions of employment.
Complete your application by including:
- A brief cover letter.
- Answers to the Key Selection Criteria, listed in section 4. Write one page, at most for each question, addressing your relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, training and experience that demonstrates that you meet the criteria. You can give specific examples, including screen caps and JPGs where you have used your skills and abilities that relate to specific criteria. If you fail to address any criteria it will be assumed that you do not meet it.
- A copy of your resume/curriculum vitae (CV)that provides your personal details, qualifications and work history, including sex work. Respect Inc endorses an affirmative action policy that promotes sex work experience as an essential selection criterion. Information provided by applicants will be kept in the strictest confidence and viewed only by the selection panel.
- At least two referees, including one who can confirm your sex work experience. Include their name, email, and mobile phone number. They may be contacted for a confidential verbal reference.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Sex work experience and a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting sex workers in Queensland and the sex worker movement in Australia.
- Experience in policy analysis and development OR demonstrated ability to undertake these duties.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of human rights and sex worker rights.
- Demonstrated engagement with current sex worker movement discussions/debates and campaigns utilising social media and new technologies.
- Understanding of sex worker community consultation approaches to inform policy development.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise social media and other platforms to access a diverse range of sex work writings, articles, research, and sex worker community campaigns.
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills and ability to adapt writing style to suit a specific audience.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the capacity to plan and prioritise work within competing deadlines and use initiative to problem solve and achieve outcomes.
- Strong computer and keyboard skills including word processing, file management, social media, internet and email.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively within a team.
Desirable (not essential):
- Undergraduate degree majoring in political science, law or a relevant field.
- An understanding of social and public health policy concerning marginalised communities.
- An understanding of parliamentary processes.
- An understanding of the role of the community sector in the Australian response to BBVs and STIs.
