Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aeromedical and allied health services for people in rural and remote Australia. We strive towards improving the health and wellbeing of our rural communities and believe in creating opportunities, so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services.

About the Program

Flying Doctor Community Transport provides clients with transport at no cost from home to health appointments and funded Social Support Groups. It is a volunteer-led program, that relies on the generosity of local volunteer drivers.

About the Role

The Volunteer Liaison Officer provides onsite support for the Foster Community Transport hub, including supervision and support for volunteer drivers, managing volunteer availability, connecting with local stakeholders, and support delivery of the Community Transport program into the community.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Identifying and managing the recruitment of volunteers to support ongoing service delivery
  • Support coordination of volunteer availability onsite for rostering purposes
  • Maintaining a high level of volunteer engagement within the Community Transport program through the regular meetings, events and initiatives
  • Ensuring all drivers involved with the program are provided with the necessary training, supervision and mentoring
  • Rotating site visits to support onsite needs, facilities management and liaison with volunteers and community stakeholders

To be successful, you will need:

  • Experience in a similar role with an emphasis on Operations and Logistical Planning and/or volunteer management
  • To be able to travel between Community Transport sites as required
  • Comfortable working independently on-site and collaborating remotely (online) with the broader team
  • An understanding of the unique challenges faced by regional communities
  • To have and able to maintain strong relationships with regional communities
  • The ability to establish clear boundaries with volunteers and confidently maintain them as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with various stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Share Point, Microsoft or Google sheets
  • Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a community health / charity / not for profit similar operating environment
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or volunteer management, including undertaking recruitment and onboarding procedures and providing ongoing support and training to volunteers
