The need-to-know

Rise’s Mental Health team is looking for an experienced & qualified Mental Health - Peer Support Worker to join their team on a 3 month, fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension.

As a Mental Health - Peer Support Worker, you will assist people with serious and persistent mental illness on their journey of recovery through the delivery of community based individual advocacy service.

A typical day might look like

  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing client support and action plans.
  • Planning and implementing individual and group activities.
  • Providing advocacy, information, and resources to assist clients to meet their physical and health needs.
  • Responding to and managing crisis in collaboration with relevant health professionals.
  • Program administration including maintenance of client documentation, inputting service data, monitoring program compliance/deliverables and recording outcome progress for clients.
  • Mentoring trainees/volunteers and contributing to recruitment of new staff.

This role will be working on a fixed-term, full-time basis, both in the community & at Helen’s Place located in Middle Swan. To perform this role, it is essential that you have a minimum of a Certificate IV in Mental Health & professional experience working in the Mental Health sector, please only apply if this is you.

The need-to-have

  • Past experience in a Peer Support Worker role or in a similar role in Mental Health.
  • Resilience to deal with a range of sensitive subjects relating to mental health and ability to display coping skills.
  • Qualification or working towards a minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services or related discipline and/or experience.
  • An understanding of the Mental Health National Standards and Quality Management Frameworks and experience in working in the Mental Health Recovery Model Framework.

Appointments to this position will be subject to a NDIS Worker Screening Check / NDIS Worker Orientation Module / requires a driving licence and reliable vehicle to use for work purposes.

Costs for new checks will be covered and/or reimbursed by Rise.
