Championing our Victorian House and Event Volunteer Programs, this role is pivotal for looking after our volunteers, ensuring they are compliant, competent and confident to begin their volunteering journey with RMHC.

We are recruiting for a full-time on-site role working multi-site, across the Victorian Houses in North Fitzroy, Parkville and Clayton. This role will work on a flexi schedule and flexi hours, as determined by you to ensure program delivery for both events and House volunteers.

In-line with its mission, Ronald McDonald House Charities Victoria & Tasmania (RMHC VIC & TAS) has dedicated more than 35 years to keeping families closer to their child with a serious illness who require treatment and support across Victoria and Tasmania.

What we're looking for:

As the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, you will be at the operational front-line, supporting and engaging volunteers to ensure a positive experience with every contact. It will be your responsibility to coordinate the Victorian House and Event Volunteer Programs, including the induction, training, rostering and communication with volunteers and program reporting. The role supports onsite engagement with the relevant department - eg. VIC House Volunteer Program with the Operations team and events volunteers, with the Fundraising & Marketing (F&M) team. You will work in line with our key policies, particularly in the areas of safeguarding children, confidentiality and equal opportunities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Acting as the key point of contact for the handover between Volunteer Intake Officer and the Operations team (and/or F&M team, for events)
  • Ensuring volunteers are compliant, competent and confident to begin their volunteering journey with RMHC
  • Implementing best practice People Management standards with regards to training and induction
  • Ensuring adherence to the National Volunteering Standards RMHC National Quality Standards framework
  • Driving a professional and values driven outlook in the workplace when providing support to volunteers
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of new and on-going initiatives, such as support programs, services and information that will contribute to further family support in line with our mission
  • Delivering volunteer induction, orientation and training
  • Management of the volunteer roster
  • Coordinating volunteer engagement, events and reward and recognition
  • Leading and managing volunteers, ensuring they provide a high level of assistance to families and adhere to operating protocols and guidelines.

Who are you?

We want you to champion our Volunteer Programs and facilitate the onboarding, training and rostering of our volunteers to enable them to provide the best support to our families.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Social Work, Volunteer Management or related discipline; or comparable work experience, skills or competencies
  • Experience in the Not-for-Profit sector
  • Experience with volunteer coordination and management
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of Volunteer Victoria's standards
  • Experience with a volunteer management system eg. Better Impact, Definitiv
  • Experience with community services including exposure to working with volunteers
  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience with volunteer compliance frameworks
  • Soft skills - high level of emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, adaptability, flexibility and ability to pivot your work as per the business needs.
