Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland is a 'home away from home' for seriously ill children and their families.

When families have to travel far from home to receive specialised medical care for their sick child, seeking accommodation in an unfamiliar place only adds to their stress and anxiety. Though there is no place like home, Ronald McDonald House RMHC SEQ strives to provide a safe and comfortable environment where the whole family can stay together for the duration of their child's treatment.

As part of the People & Culture team and working closely with our Volunteer Coordinator, this role will enable you to utilise your exceptional people skills to build and maintain relationships and support our team of 180 volunteers. Our volunteer work across our four locations in South East Queensland in a range of roles from administration, guest ambassadors, cooking, baking, driving, family room support, kids club and more. Your day will be full of variety, some challenges and lots of fun along the way!

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Recruitment and on-boarding of volunteers and staff including scheduling and holding interviews, conducting reference checks, completion of background screening, inductions and training for new starters.
  • Administration of Volunteer mandatory compliance and training, including the opportunity to implement a new learning management system and develop learning programs.
  • Responding to Volunteer enquiries through administration of the shared Volunteering inbox including supporting the rostering of volunteers.
  • Assist in the delivery of Reward & Recognition programs and staff and volunteer engagement activities.

Selection Criteria:

  • Previous experience working with volunteers or a HR administration role
  • Computer literacy, intermediate to advanced Microsoft programs knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, problem solve and handle highly sensitive information with discretion and integrity
  • High level interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Exemplary written communication, record keeping, organisation and administrative skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Better Impact volunteer management software program - highly regarded but not essential.
  • Experience in a Not for Profit organisation will be highly regarded but not essential
  • Certificate IV in Volunteer Coordination, Training & Assessment or human resources - highly regarded but not essential.
