Roses in the Ocean is a national not for profit organisation founded on and operating through the lens of lived experience of suicide; we exist to save lives and to reduce emotional distress and pain. We seek to lead the significant cultural shift needed to save lives through harnessing the perspectives of all we represent, along with our own lived experience of suicide. With our actions driven and guided by those with a lived experience of suicide, we innovate and transform suicide prevention, and drive and deliver system reform. Everyone who works within Roses in the Ocean has a lived experience of suicide which is defined as ‘having experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, supported a loved one through suicidal crisis, or been bereaved by suicide.’

About the Role

The Impact Measurement Specialist will play a crucial role in driving evidence-based practice and continuous improvement across the organisation through the implementation of our outcomes and impact framework. Working within the Research Hub, this position supports teams to adopt evaluation methodologies and translate insights into improved service delivery.

This role has three core purposes:

  • Lead the implementation of our Outcomes and Impact Framework and provide support across multiple teams, ensuring consistency across service areas, including technical guidance, training, coaching, program design, evaluation methodologies, data collection, measurement and reporting.
  • Impact Measurement and Analysis, including design and implementation of strategies in suicide prevention and data analysis to provide identity trends, patterns and insights.
  • Continuous Improvement using evidence-based practice supporting teams in developing and implementing improvement initiatives so we can share our impact and our learnings both internally and with key external audiences

This role requires strong proven skills and previous success in building strong relationships and stakeholder engagement by translating complex information for diverse audiences. Good project management disciplines, organisational skills, problem-solving and analytical thinking will be key, as will expertise in analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data, creating and evaluating methodologies and frameworks, managing data and creating visualisation and reporting tools.

Please note, if you live within the Brisbane greater region, there will be an expectation for you to work a Hybrid model, 2 days from home, 3 days in our office located in Newstead. If you live in regional Queensland or Interstate you can work remotely from home.

About You

You’ll bring with you:

  • A lived experience of suicide and an understanding of the impact it has on families, workplaces, friends and communities.
  • Personal values that align with those of Roses in the Ocean and the Lived Experience Guiding Principles.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Evaluation, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in impact measurement and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience implementing outcomes frameworks in health or social services
  • Strong background in public health methodologies and approaches
  • Proven track record in supporting teams to adopt evaluation practices
  • Experience in suicide prevention or mental health service evaluation preferred
  • Professionally presented with outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, self-manage and meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Office 365, Monday.com, SharePoint and Power BI

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Can you/are you comfortable to share your lived experience of suicide and explain your understanding of the impact it has on families, workplaces, friends and communities.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with public health research methods
  • Can you quote an example of your expertise in analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data that translated to meaningful evidence-based measurement, supported continuous service improvements and developed best practice.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing outcome frameworks in health or social services, including program design, evaluation methodologies, impact measurement and reporting.
