The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for delivering a professional, consistent, and engaging experience for all volunteers at Roundabout Canberra. This role works independently under general direction to coordinate all aspects of the volunteer program, with authority to make day-to-day decisions and recommend improvements to senior management. The role ensures the effective coordination of volunteer efforts to meet the operational needs of the organisation, while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for over 250 registered volunteers.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers and ensures alignment with organisational priorities. The position is an energetic, physical one. It includes assisting volunteers with moving stock, stacking shelves, cleaning prams and other tasks as required.
This position operates from Roundabout Canberra Headquarters at 80 Beaurepaire Cres, Holt.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding
- Develops and implement strategies to improve volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement, contributing to the organisation’s capacity to meet growing community needs.
- Conduct screening, onboarding, and induction processes in line with organisational policies.
Volunteer Management and Support
- Supervise, guide, and support volunteers during sessions to ensure operational objectives are met.
- Leads a diverse team of volunteers, fostering a positive culture and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives
- Provide ongoing pastoral care and act as a point of contact for volunteer concerns and feedback.
- Take steps to improve volunteer programs or address challenges in volunteer engagement and participation.
Training and Development
- Deliver comprehensive induction programs and ongoing training for volunteers.
- Develop strategies for volunteer recognition and retention, fostering long-term engagement.
Operational Coordination
- Liaise with the Operations Manager, Operations Coordinator and Social Services Manager to align and direct volunteer efforts with organisational priorities.
- Oversee the coordination of volunteer sessions, including corporate, school, and community groups.
Administration and Systems Management
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, including communication logs and key interactions in Salesforce.
- Manage volunteer data and ensure compliance with legislative and organizational policies.
- Utilise and maintain Salesforce for effective volunteer management and reporting.
Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)
- Promote a safe and clean working environment, adhering to WHS requirements.
- Serve as Health and Safety Representative or First Aid Officer if needed.
Additional Contributions
- From time to time, support events such as expos, markets, and fundraising initiatives.
- Capture social media content to highlight volunteer activities.
