Animal Attendant - Wollongong

Our Illawarra Shelter, located in Unanderra, is looking for an experienced Animal Attendant to join their dedicated team on a Full Time basis. You will undertake a range of Animal Attendant responsibilities, ensuring a high standard of animal care is maintained at all times.

The successful candidate will be required to work a seven day rotating roster.

About the Role

It goes without saying that everyone working within RSPCA NSW loves animals, but those handling our nearest and dearest on a daily basis go that extra mile to ensure our animals receive all the love and care they deserve.

  • Perform animal care tasks such as cleaning cages/enclosures; medicating; feeding; exercising; assessing animals
  • Provide basic first aid to animals where required
  • Provide high level communication to managers and colleagues and that ensures all information is provided to required parties
  • Provide high level customer service to all stakeholders, including members of the public

About You

  • Certificate II Animal Handling or similar, essential
  • Certified Microchip implanter, advantageous
  • Previous animal handling experience
  • Previous experience providing customer service to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • NSW driver's license (unrestricted or green P's)
  • Resilience – the ability to bounce back from occasional setbacks
