About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists at Austin Health for an enthusiastic and experienced practitioner to assist individuals with acquired disabilities to contribute to their own communities through leisure.

The Community Linking and Leisure Specialist position will be based at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in the Community Integration and Leisure Services team.

The key objectives are to support people with acquired disabilities to participate in local leisure opportunities, build and thrive in meaningful relationships and broaden knowledge of inclusive leisure options. This will be achieved by:

  • Maximising the individual’s sense of ability to affect their situation and to continue to develop their lifestyle beyond rehabilitation,
  • Ensuring people have access to local social and community supports and broadening their knowledge of lifestyle and leisure options,
  • Supporting people to problem solve and achieve solutions independently.

This role will also participate in the development and implementation of team projects.

ABOUT COMMUNITY INTEGRATION AND LEISURE SERVICES

Community Integration and Leisure Services (CI&LS) is based at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre (RTRC) providing services to rehabilitation clients of RTRC across all clinical areas, including inpatients and outpatients we also provide services in the acute setting where appropriate.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate:

  • An understanding of the importance of leisure in establishing a balanced and healthy lifestyle and/or
  • Knowledge of the key elements of Community Development and disability-inclusive practice

All appointments are made subject to the candidate providing a current satisfactory National Police Certificate conducted by Victoria Police and if required, a Working with Children Check.
