Waste Project Officer

  • Commencing salary up to $71,590 + Superannuation (subject to your skills & experience)

As a Project Officer in our Waste team, your focus will be to develop and implement projects associated with the Council’s waste contract as well as waste reduction strategies and programs in accordance with the EPA Better Waste & Recycling Initiative. The aim of these projects is to change the behaviour of residents regarding their waste management practices by facilitating workshops, developing educational resources and contributing to the development of communication material to promote waste & recycling initiatives and the reduction of litter and illegal dumping.

You will also contribute to and assist in implementing  and developing other related projects, including the annual waste calendar and community events as well as supporting all facets of customer service and waste administration in connection with the collection service.

Key requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Waste Management, Environmental Science, Project Management, or equivalent technical skills and experience in waste management
  • Strong background in developing and delivering project based work with experience in scoping projects and preparing documenting specifications
  • Results focus with track record of implementing projects in accordance with agreed budget & timeframes
  • Strong teamwork and relationship building skills, ideally with experience working with residents, community groups or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience preparing and delivering presentations to stakeholders including community groups
  • Proven report writing/written communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer literacy in using MS applications, ideally including Indesign or similar design software
  • Current driver’s licence
