Your new role

The aim of the Bethlehem Community Program is to help women break the cycle of homelessness by providing residents with stable, short to medium accommodation and support provision. Bethlehem Community supports single women, unaccompanied by dependants, aged over 35, who have experienced homelessness and/or alcohol or other drug dependency issues, live with mental health, intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities and, who are socially isolated and disadvantaged.

Bethlehem Community provides a 10-bed supported accommodation facility in Reservoir; support provision includes meals provision, room cleaning, daily living skills development, recreation and social inclusion activity and case management.

Your new role will involve working with women experiencing, disadvantage in a residential setting, located in Reservoir. In your part time position, you will be responsible to assist clients to reach their full potential, improving independence, increase skill level, social isolation and build relationships in a home like environment whilst working alongside other staff to provide great outcomes for the client group.

Your day-to-day

  • Provide support in accordance with residents' support plans, and be involved in the activities of daily living
  • Ensure residents adhere to house rules to enable the facility to be as home like as possible
  • To promote independence and encourage residents to participate in the community with the Meal preparation program
  • To work collaboratively with the Bethlehem team

We're looking for a female support worker who is

  • Available to work sleepover & weekend shifts (Essential).
  • Ready to provide a safe and welcoming environment for women who stay at our supported accommodation program.
  • A team player, prepared to work together to support women achieve the outcomes they desire.
  • Prepared to join a small, close knit and supportive team environment.
  • Committed to working within a feminist, person-centred, strength’s based and culturally responsive practice framework.
  • Certificate or Diploma level qualification/s in Residential or Aged Care, Community Services, or related field.

You can look forward to

  • Part time position. Your days of work will be every Monday and Tuesday, every alternate Saturday and one Sunday per month, a total of approx. 42 hours per month.

  • Regular supervision and Group reflective practice.
  • Located in Reservoir, close to public transport and restaurants
  • Working within a team that implement an intersectional feminist approach.
