Role description
The WHS Project Coordinator will be employed by SA Unions on a two-year contract (aligned with grant funding)
Mind Your Head is an initiative of the Australian Union Movement and is about improving workplace mental health (psychosocial health and safety) to prevent injuries before they occur. This project brings together union, business and government stakeholders on a two-year comprehensive workplace program. Working with a group of target worksites, the project will develop best practice systems and procedures to improve psychosocial safety at work.
This role would suit an experienced lead organiser, campaign coordinator, WHS officer or project manager.
Duties
The role is responsible for the overall coordination of the Mind Your Head project in South Australia. The coordinator will report to the Secretary, and work in collaboration with SA Unions’ and the ACTU’s work health and safety specialists. This may include tasks such as:
- Recruitment and onboarding of project workplaces, officials, HSRs and management representatives
- Supporting unions, workplaces and, HSRs to implement learnings and improve control of psychosocial hazards
- Administrative tasks including report writing and budget management;
- Scheduling and managing all meetings and workshops involved with project rollout
- Contributing to social media and other communication activities
- Contributing to and assisting with analysing and presenting research findings, including case study material.
Shortlisted candidates will receive a full briefing on project particulars, timelines and deliverables ahead of an interview.
Skills and experience - Required
- Relevant experience in a role involving work health and safety.
- Understanding of the process of consultation in the risk management cycle
- Practical experience in a workplace advocacy settings
- Strong understanding of work health and safety principles and workplace rights.
- Proven experience in developing and leading projects and managing project resources
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire.
- The applicant must have strong organisational, interpersonal and relationship management skills
Skills and experience - Desirable
- Demonstration of professional development relevant to the field of work health and safety
- Understanding of the impact of psychosocial hazards in the workplace
- Familiarisation with the Mind Your Head project website and resources
Salary and conditions
- 2 Year Grant Funded – Full Time
- Reporting to the Secretary, SA Unions
- Employment conditions subject to the SA Unions Enterprise Agreement
- Classification: Specialist Grade 1 - $114,000
- 13% Superannuation,
- Flexible working arrangements and attractive leave entitlements including 12 rostered days off per year,
- Christmas shutdown leave and 4 weeks annual leave.
- Whilst the position is based in the Adelaide CBD, staff have access to remote working options.
