How you’ll fit into the bigger picture

We are currently looking for a Settlement Case Manager to join our Settlement team to deliver our program in partnership with Commonwealth Government Departments that helps empower community members to find solutions that address their settlement needs.

The aim of the program will improve social participation, economic wellbeing, independence, personal wellbeing and community connectedness.

The Settlement Practitioner role maintains highly developed skills in assessment, engagement, and case management. Service delivery will be high quality, responsive, flexible and tailored to the unique needs of individuals, families and communities, empowering them towards education, employment and English language acquisition.

Time management, flexibility and a strong ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment are critical skills in this role. SECL operates in a changing environment that will require timely responses to emerging social and economic trends impacting on our client community. An ability to manage oneself in times of change and uncertainty is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Strength-based case management focused on holistic approach and interventions including client assessment, case work and appropriate referrals to internal and external services
• Comprehensive case management plans identifying achievable goals for program participants including individuals and their family members if required
• Data informed decision making with the ability to identify service trends and emerging needs, through front line service delivery
• Data entry and client reporting tasks in line with contractual obligations and service agreements
• Initiate, maintain, and enhance relationships with internal and external stakeholders and advocate for enhanced service provisions for clients from migrant and refugee background
• Front line service delivery targets and objectives met with a focus on appropriate and sustainable outcomes for participants and communities
• Other tasks as required to ensure program’s objectives and KPIs are met accordingly to contractual obligations

Skills required to undertake the role

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience of case work supporting multicultural communities
• Effective interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, advocacy skills and the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders
• Strong communication, report writing, organizational and time management skills
• Client centered approach with a strong commitment to social justice where all people can live to their full potential
• Advanced skills in stakeholder engagement and management
• Experience working in consortia and partnership models of service delivery and multi-disciplinary teams
• Bi-lingual capability (Dari language highly desirable)
• Strong IT capability
• Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma
• Agile mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated strong ethos and skill in working as part of a team
